“B&N had this on display at the location I visited because it's written by a local author to that area. When I was looking at it, an employee came up and told me it was a good book, so I had to get it. I really like this book, glad I got it. It kind of reminds me of other fantasy materials out there (video games included). The one thing I don't get is why the author set this so far in the future, but everything is similar to current times. The majority of the things the author describes are this common to us now. I would have thought a book in the future would include futuristic things, but I do not get the impression of future items. I'd prefer it just be in the past or present, but it doesn't deduct from my score because other than the author mentioning the year, you forget it's in the future.

MAEGWEN SALLEY-MASSIE is the author of The Emerald Queen Rises, along with The Mammoth Awakens and its forthcoming sequels. She grew up in the Pee Dee Low Country of South Carolina with her loving parents and sister. Her childhood was spent mainly outdoors building forts, riding horses, playing capture the flag, riding ATVs, and playing volleyball. She began writing The Emerald Queen Rises as her therapy during the pandemic. She is a woven polypropylene specialist by day and a fantasy fiction author by night. Her favorite food is sushi, and she loves to travel the world. Maegwen currently lives in Myrtle Beach, SC with her husband, Kyle, and their cat, Khaleesi and dog, Pogue.
